Canada announced new Express Entry categories for 2026 to better address labour shortages and attract highly skilled workers. The government aims to keep immigration at sustainable levels while supporting the economy.
New categories will include:

Foreign medical doctors with Canadian work experience

Researchers and senior managers with Canadian work experience

Transport workers, such as pilots and aircraft mechanics

Highly skilled foreign military recruits for roles like doctors, nurses, and pilots
Canada will also continue selecting candidates with strong French skills and those working in health care, social services, and skilled trades, such as nurses, dentists, carpenters, and plumbers.
