BuildHER Future (BHF) – Newcomer Women in Construction
This is a free 16-week hybrid skills and career development program designed to support internationally educated women in advancing their careers in Ontario’s construction sector.
Funded by Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) through the Foreign Credential Recognition (FCR) Program, BuildHER Future helps participants strengthen their professional skills, gain industry-recognized training, and connect with employment opportunities in the construction industry.
Participants will benefit from:
• Industry-specific training and certifications
• Leadership development
• Employment readiness support
• Experiential learning opportunities
• Micro-credentials delivered in partnership with Schulich Executive Education at York University and Humber Polytechnic
Eligibility
Applicants must:
• Identify as a woman
• Be 18 years of age or older
• Be a resident of Ontario
• Have international education or training (degree, diploma, or apprenticeship) in engineering, architecture, construction, computer science, information technology, finance, project management, or other technical or professional fields
• Have at least two years of professional experience outside Canada (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
• Meet a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) level 7 or higher
• Hold one of the following immigration statuses:
- Permanent Resident
- Temporary Resident
- Canadian Citizen
- Person granted refugee status in Canada
