Region of Peel - has programs and resources for pre-school aged children in Peel to prepare them for school. The programs and services are free to all parents and caregivers of young children. Parenting and Family Literacy Centres - provide a place where parents/caregivers and children from infants to six years of age can play and learn together in their local school. BridgeWay Family Centre - offers early learning programs that help children to develop the skills they need to be successful learners when they get to school. |

Attendance is free up to the end of Grade 12, however, at some schools, parents may be required to pay extra for some supplies and equipment. All government-funded schools are co-educational, meaning they accept boys and girls, and most do not require children to wear uniforms. AssessmentIf you are new in Peel, your child may need an assessment before starting school. Peel District School Board has We Welcome the World centres and Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board has Newcomer centres to help you with the next steps. All high school students (grades 9-12), new to Ontario or who has been in the Ontario school system less than 6 months, must have their assessment appointment before attending school. French public schoolsConseil Scolaire Viamonde is the French public school board that covers Peel region and other areas of south-west and central Ontario and offers public education from kindergarten to grade 12. Certain criteria usually must be met to allow your child to attend a school in the Conseil scolaire Viamonde or any other French public school board in Ontario.
French Catholic schoolsConseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir is the French Catholic school board that covers Peel and other areas in southern and central Ontario. The Board offers a free Full-French Catholic education from Kindergarten to Grade 12. All elementary schools have a French daycare and before and after school programs. Certain criteria usually must be met to allow your child to attend a school in the Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir.
The Conseil scolaire catholique MonAvenir also offers settlement services for newcomer students and their families in the Peel region. Settlement workers are in schools to orient and accompany students and their family by helping them to become better acquainted to life in Canada and to integrate into their new environment.
