Understanding Wages & Salary Discussion
Build the knowledge and confidence needed to navigate wage expectations and discuss compensation professionally. This workshop helps participants understand how salaries are determined in the Canadian job market and how factors such as experience, location, industry, and education can influence earnings. Participants will learn how to research wage ranges using reliable sources, interpret job postings, and assess what a fair and competitive salary looks like for their role. The session also covers how to approach salary discussions with employers, including when and how to negotiate, how to communicate your value, and how to respond to salary-related questions. By the end of the workshop, participants will be better prepared to make informed decisions and engage in confident, professional conversations about compensation.
Program Outline: COSTI has launched its Employment Related Services (ERS) program, offering workshops for Permanent Residents and Convention Refugees to build job-ready skills.
Additional workshop topics include resume writing, interview skills, networking, mentorship, and digital job search support, along with one-on-one counselling and resume screening.
