Library cards are free to all residents in Ontario.

Public Libraries

Peel Region has excellent public libraries with books, magazines, audio CDs and DVD movies that can be borrowed for free. Libraries also have many social groups and programs for children and adults, including story readings, arts and crafts, language and computer programs, art exhibits and events.

To borrow items from libraries, you will need to get a library card. Library cards are free to all residents in Ontario. With your library card, you can borrow materials, reserve materials and have access to the library's database where you can do research on a wide range of topics.

To get a library card, you will need 2 samples of identification, one of which has a photo, which can include:

Children under the age of 12 must have their card signed by a parent or caregiver.

Multicultural services
Designed to assist newcomers, the Mississauga Library and the Brampton Library offer free multicultural programming for adults. Registration is required and can be done by phone or in person by visiting any branch.
Career Resource Centre

You also have access to computers and information on occupations, educational planning, career planning, training and job search strategies at the Career Resource Centre of the Mississauga Central Library, Sciences and Business Department, located on the 2nd floor of the building.
