9-1-1 calls are free of charge from any telephone in Ontario, including pay telephones or cell phones.
Emergency Services
If you have an emergency, you can dial 9-1-1 free of charge from your telephone, cell phone or a public payphone to report the emergency.
9-1-1 connects you to an ambulance, police or fire department in an emergency situation. An emergency is any situation when the safety of people or property is at risk and requires immediate assistance. Examples of 9-1-1 emergencies include:
- A fire
- A crime in progress
- A medical emergency
Please note that if you need to take an ambulance to a hospital, you will have to pay a small fee.
