II. Major Employers and Employment in the Region of Peel

The Region of Peel consists of the cities of Mississauga, Brampton, and the Town of Caledon. Peel has a wide range of employers in a wide range of areas (e.g. government, public institutions, large corporations, large retail shopping centres, and many small and medium-sized businesses). As of December 2007, there were at least 86,133 private sector business establishments in Peel. Of this:

The 2 largest employers in Peel Region are the two School Boards: the Peel District School Board and the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board. Each of these School Boards reports that it has approximately 10,000 employees.
